Deeply committed to education, Sunil Surve and Nancy Miranda founded the school with a shared goal of creating a conducive learning space for students who aspire for affordable quality education. With Nancy's strong educational foundation and Sunil's inspiration from his disciplined upbringing in a middle-class Army family, they aimed to make a long-term impact on their community by establishing a school that offers transformative opportunities that are both theoretical and practical.
Over the years, the school encountered numerous challenges, particularly with infrastructure. Undeterred, Sunil and Nancy took proactive steps to address the situation. Varthana’s school loan has helped them bring solutions to these issues. Through the school loan from Varthana, they built essential facilities, such as new classrooms, a stage, a secure compound, and toilet facilities significantly enhancing the learning environment for their students.

With a deep-rooted passion for education and a commitment to social impact, they founded Divine Mercy English School, starting with just 24 students and 2 teachers. Today, the school serves 471 students, with 60% coming from tribal families, many of whom are the first in their families to pursue education. The improved facilities have also allowed Divine Mercy to introduce innovative programs, such as Vedic Math further broadening the educational opportunities available to the students.
