Kerala is now witnessing another IT field transformation through South Indian Tech giant ZOHO Corporation and as such the endeavor of Kerala’s FM, K N Balagopal is now treated as ‘Hightech Kottarakara model for rural development’ and that probably be the first of its kind in High end technological R and D arena in a Tier IV centre. This ZOHO’s mechatronics venture was inaugurated by the Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan in a grand function presided by local MLA and the FM K N Balagopal in presence of luminaries, former ISRO Chairman Somnath, ZOHO founders Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas among others. The venture fueled by the Kerala Startup Mission has got attendance of upcoming small and medium IT firms, entrepreneurs and Start Ups particularly since the event comprised formalizing the takeover bid for Kochi’s Asimov Robotics. ZOHO known for its earlier successful acquisition of Genrobotics is now more enthused in the escalation of such strategic tie ups.
On one hand the ZOHO would get talented engineers from young IT brains spread across the State with an emphasis on rural Kerala such as that in suburbs of Kottarakara, the company can further be benefited on account of the lower operational costs. This IT park venue is less than three hours drive away from the ZOHO’s mainstay Thenkasi.
The visionary Finance Minister who habitually banking on the knowledge economy for a traction in the GSDP as evidenced in his last few Kerala budgets is now adjudged to be the torch bearer of infra development as also end to end execution for IT projects that include ultra modern mechatronics even in the outskirts so as to augment the income pattern of even the rural folk. ZOHO corporation is the perfect match for the mission as it has a time tested model for the upliftment of rural talents in the nearby State. And the accolades of Sridhar Vembu provide enough testimony in this regard.
While inaugurating the ZOHO R and D centre, the Kerala CM was abundantly praising the ZOHO team and his cabinet colleague, Balagopal for such a novel idea and for its right sort of implementation and offered all out support from the Government. The CM was of the firm view that such ventures are the need of the hour in a State like Kerala where the IT export income is going to touch One Trillion Rupees shortly.
The Kerala IT industrial fraternity observes that this sort of IT excelling Kottarakara would be triggering an orbit shift of the Techies’ State in its entire gamut of IT Rand D. While it was flourished only in major towns that too in dazzled buildings till the other day, the high end technology brain storming for next gen robotics and AI machine productions has now found an establishment in a low profile location of its sort as well. Rather, the ardent IT profession desires of tech savvy youth with moderate educational stature would also get a representation in this field as it is obvious that though initial bandwagon comprises 250 only the Park might spread its wings with thousands of newly employed local youths in the near future.
